Passing 2016

Passing 2016
This short documentary reveals the struggles of three black transgendered female to males who want to be accepted for who they are in a society that does not and does not care to understand them. Unless you know someone who is going through this, you probably don't give anything like this a second thought. This film will hopefully raise our consciousness and perhaps help us to be a little more understanding.

I have a few gay (male) friends who have openly spoken about their interest in transitioning. I decided to check out this documentary to gain a better understanding of what that means. Although the documentary is not lengthy or as in-depth as I would have desired, it was somewhat insightful and I ultimately gained a bit more knowledge on this subject.

This short documentary profiles the lives of three men of color who have undergone gender transition from female to male. The film explores what life is like living as a black man, when no one knows you are transgender. This award-winning film is one of the few films to address the intersectionality of race, gender, and the experiences of those who walk multiple paths in life.
