This is more than science; there is also a look at real people with similar diseases and interviews with Merrick's modern relatives. At the end, there is a computer rendition of how John Merrick may have looked (from the look of relatives and from the unaffected side of Merrick's skull). I'm glad I watched, but I felt sad for Merrick and some of the people shown.
