This movie is unique because it want to convey a message, but that message is almost disappointing. I think the cause for so many bad reviews come from people expect more traditional horror rather than a tale of humanities failings.
I don't want to spoil the movie but it truly satisfied me, because if Satan does exist he doesn't create satanic rituals. Anytime light is divided from dark, it becomes very easy to see and choose light. Satans best work is done where the lines between good and bad are blurred, and realizing that is what makes this movie great. That being said I did feel Emma Watson's performance was somewhat lacking.
