The Overview Effect 2016

The title of this video is a phrase coined by the author Frank White. It refers to the cognitive shift astronauts experience when they see Earth from Space. On a perpetual loop aboard the International Space Station, astronauts have been observing our planet in astonishing detail, while capturing its dynamic beauty in one of the greatest photographic collections of all time.

This is such a beautiful perspective of our wonderful planet! At first I thought there would be narration - but the non-intrusive music combined with the ever-changing visuals allowed me to focus on the ever-changing sights I was seeing; various countries, northern lights, day to night and back many times.

I also enjoyed that periodically the name of the country, river, etc. we were flying over was displayed - it made me smile because commercial pilots do that also.
